Signal AI

Enterprise reputation and risk intelligence sold to comms and risk leaders, with real readership data behind it

Visit Signal AI Verified Sep 2026 · Next review scheduled Jan 2027

Signal AI is a London-headquartered reputation and risk intelligence platform that sells high in the organisation. Its homepage names chief communications officers and chief risk officers as the buyers, and the product is shaped accordingly, with board reporting and enterprise risk sitting alongside media coverage. The vendor runs its own AIQ models over licensed premium content, including a Dow Jones Factiva partnership, and claims 5.5 million articles a day across 226 markets and 120+ languages plus 432,000 social posts. What distinguishes it is less the coverage than what has been added around it. Article-level readership data, acquired with Memo in March 2026, shows how many people actually read a piece rather than its theoretical reach. AI Citations, launched May 2026, measures how a brand appears in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity answers and which earned articles the models draw on. An MCP connector, launched June 2026, lets the intelligence be queried from inside Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot. Ask AIQ is the conversational layer across all of it.

For comms teams: large enterprises where reputation is a board and risk question, not only a comms one.

Best for

  • • Large enterprises where reputation is a board and risk question, not only a comms one
  • • Comms and risk functions that want to work from one intelligence source
  • • Teams reporting reputation upwards rather than counting clips
  • • Organisations wanting AI-answer visibility measured beside earned coverage

Pricing

Not published. No list price, plan or entry point appears anywhere on signal-ai.com and every route runs through a demo request. Third-party transaction data from Vendr puts the average annual contract at $21,372, in a range of $9,000 to $38,000.

Verified 18 September 2026 against signal-ai.com following the vendor's September 2026 site rebuild, and against Vendr's buyer guide. The Vendr figures rest on three purchasers and three deals, which is far too thin to read as a price list: treat them as an order of magnitude and nothing more. Pricing has been requested from the vendor for this entry and it will be updated if a publishable figure is supplied.

What works well

  • + Licensed premium content underneath the monitoring, including Dow Jones Factiva
  • + Readership data answers a question most monitoring tools cannot
  • + AI-answer visibility measured beside earned coverage rather than bought separately
  • + The MCP connector puts the data inside the assistant a team already works in
  • + Designed around board-level reporting

Watch out for

  • - No published pricing at any tier, so budget planning starts with a sales call
  • - Enterprise scale and commitment, well beyond a small in-house team
  • - Nothing published on model training, security certification or admin controls
  • - The MCP connector is limited to customers using Ask AIQ and was in an initial access period at launch
  • - AI Citations covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, so Claude and Copilot answers are not measured
  • - Headline volume and customer figures are vendor claims that cannot be checked independently

When to choose this

Choose Signal AI when reputation is a board-level risk question as well as a comms one, you can carry an enterprise contract, and you want readership data and AI-answer visibility measured beside earned coverage in one place.

Who should look elsewhere

If you are a freelancer, a small in-house team, or an agency without a large retainer base, this is not your tool. Third-party transaction data puts typical contracts well into five figures a year, and much of what you would be paying for is risk intelligence and board reporting a small team will never use. Brand24 or Mention cover online and social monitoring at a fraction of the cost. Meltwater or Muck Rack are the more usual enterprise comparison where media relations rather than enterprise risk is the job. And if AI-answer visibility is the whole requirement, the dedicated GEO tools in this directory are built for that one job and are far cheaper to trial.

Key features

  • • AIQ search: entity and topic search across published media without Boolean strings
  • • Article-level readership data drawn from a stated 5,000+ direct publisher relationships
  • • AI Citations: brand visibility, focal mentions and top cited publishers across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity
  • • Ask AIQ: conversational and agentic layer over the platform, with a mobile app
  • • Risk Scanner and horizon scanning: emerging issues mapped against a live risk register
  • • Documented API and an MCP connector for pulling intelligence into BI tools and LLM clients

Governance & data

Data inputs Brand, competitor and topic terms; risk register entries and monitored entities; questions put to Ask AIQ
Model training & controls Not published. Neither signal-ai.com nor its privacy policy states whether customer data is used to train models. The privacy policy positions Signal AI as a data processor acting on behalf of the customer organisation, and sets retention for account and contact information at the business relationship plus seven years. Ask for the enterprise terms and the DPA in writing.
Admin, SSO & permissions Not published. SSO and role-based access are not described in public material; confirm with the vendor.
Audit trail & approvals Not published; confirm with the vendor.
Risk notes Sentiment and narrative analysis are interpretive and can misread irony or sector vocabulary, so verify before briefing a board or quoting externally. AI Citations measures a moving target, because model updates change how answers are composed: treat a movement in a visibility score as a prompt to look rather than a result in itself. The governance detail an in-house team needs is absent from public material, which is a gap to close on the demo call rather than a finding against the product.

Governance information is based on publicly available vendor documentation. Verify with your vendor before procurement decisions.
