Medialyst
AI that reads recent coverage to build scored media lists with a reason and an angle for each journalist, a first look
Featured in: Best AI tools for media relations and PR in 2026
Medialyst builds media lists from a press release, website or topic. Its AI reads journalists' recent articles, scores each one from 0 to 100 for fit, explains why with reference to what they have written, suggests a pitch angle and verifies email addresses on request. You refine lists in plain language and send from your own Gmail or Outlook; there is deliberately no automatic sending. It also offers monitoring, journalist requests, an API and a connector for AI assistants. It is built by Elvis Sun, who also maintains the open-source Newsjack PR skills. The product leans to US media, with one UK case study. This is a first look: we have not yet tested its UK lists.
For comms teams: teams that want lists matched to what journalists are writing now.
Best for
- • Teams that want lists matched to what journalists are writing now
- • Practitioners pitching specialist or fast-moving beats
- • Teams already using Newsjack who want journalist data behind it
Pricing
Starter $149/month ($1,162/year), Pro $299/month ($2,332/year), Scale $800/month ($6,240/year), on monthly credit allowances. First list free, no card.
Checked 20 October 2026 on medialyst.ai. The plan cards show annual prices as a monthly equivalent, so the monthly cost is easy to misread. Starter carries a 14-day money-back guarantee.

What works well
- + The AI does the core job, reading coverage and explaining each match
- + No automatic sending, so a person stays in control of every pitch
- + Free first list lets you judge quality before paying
Watch out for
- - Not yet tested by Comms With AI; a hands-on review will follow
- - Leans to US media; UK depth unproven
- - Very few independent reviews so far
- - Credit-based plans make cost depend on how many lists you run
When to choose this
Consider Medialyst if you want each journalist on a list justified by what they have written recently, and you are willing to check UK coverage with the free first list. Treat this as a first look rather than a tested recommendation until our hands-on review.
Who should look elsewhere
If most of your outreach is to UK regional or trade titles, test JournoFinder or Roxhill Media alongside it. If you need monitoring and reporting in the same contract, a broader platform such as Muck Rack or Meltwater is the better fit.
