Phase 04 of the Comms With AI OS

Monitor

Monitor is the detection and measurement layer of AI-powered communications. It is where a team uses AI to read what landed, track emerging issues, analyse sentiment and measure campaigns, then feed that intelligence back into the next cycle. AI handles the volume; humans handle the meaning.

Once content is live, the work shifts to watching. Monitor reads what landed, what missed and what is brewing. It is the signal that drives every next decision, and AI is genuinely transformative here because the volume of coverage and conversation is now far beyond what a human can read unaided.

What Monitor covers

Media and social monitoring, issue detection, sentiment analysis, campaign measurement, competitive intelligence, and stakeholder reporting.

The always-on intelligence that closes the loop. Monitor is where the OS earns its keep as a cycle: what you learn here reshapes the strategy you start the next campaign with.

AI-assisted, human-approved

Where AI helps

  • Summarising large volumes of coverage and conversation into themes you can act on.
  • Clustering mentions, detecting shifts in sentiment, and flagging an issue while it is still small.
  • Drafting first-pass measurement and stakeholder reports.
  • Watching competitor and category activity without a human reading every article.

Where the human stays

  • Interpreting sentiment in context, where tone, irony and local nuance defeat most models.
  • Deciding what is signal and what is noise.
  • The call on whether something is a genuine issue or a passing flare.
  • What the numbers mean for the organisation and what to do next.

What good looks like

  • Monitoring that produces decisions, not just dashboards.
  • AI handling the volume so the human can spend their time on judgement.
  • Findings that actually feed the next Strategise phase, rather than sitting in a monthly report nobody reads.

Put Monitor to work

The Monitor templates pair each workflow with the AI prompt and the human review step that makes the output safe to use. 10 templates, each ready in 15 to 30 minutes.

Next in the cycle: Transform

Frequently asked questions

Can AI replace a media-monitoring platform?
Not entirely. Dedicated platforms are still the best way to capture coverage at scale. Where AI adds value in the Monitor phase is the layer on top: synthesising what those platforms capture, clustering themes, drafting reports and flagging issues earlier than a human scanning a feed would.
Is AI sentiment analysis reliable?
It is useful for direction and volume, and unreliable on nuance. AI is good at telling you sentiment is shifting and roughly where; it is poor at irony, context and the difference between criticism that matters and criticism that does not. Treat it as a first read that a human confirms.
How does Monitor close the loop?
Monitor feeds Transform, the capability layer, and the intelligence it produces resets the ground for the next Strategise phase. That feedback is what makes the OS a cycle rather than a checklist.
